April

April 28, 2014 by Shari Leave a Comment

Well it’s been quite the month, not only have I been knocked for six by morning sickness – but we have also celebrated a first and a thirtieth birthday with great gusto! I hope that May brings a calmness in this pregnancy and an ability to get back on track with my blogging. I’ve received some more delicious pork from Murray Valley Pork and I’m heading out to meet some lovely Goulburn people (but more about that in May).

I can’t believe that it’s been a year since Mr Moo came into our lives. He has brought such joy and love into our family and I can see already that he is going to be the most loving big brother. I’ve already written a one year post to Mr Moo – so you’ll hear more about his development in that one.

We also celebrated my husband’s thirtieth… We had a “small gathering” of 30 for dinner on his actual birthday for whom I cooked a three course meal. And then he headed down to Melbourne with his mates for football, go carts and late nights drinking.

I’m guessing it will be a while before he is able to do something like that again, once baby number two arrives.

I’ve been trying to provide Mr Moo with more activities to keep him amused, also acknowledging that kids just need ‘playtime’ sometimes too. And he does love playtime now that we got him a ‘jungle gym’ with slide and ball pit for his birthday.

We have been ‘wiggle and giggle’ing and we have got to know all the local parks pretty well – it’s so much fun now that he can run around.

I had a great night go with the netball girls to a new restaurant called ‘Temporada’ which is located on Mort St, in Civic next to the Helenic Club. It was delicious – even though I was sad not to try their amazing oysters…their salted caramel donuts with banana ice cream and marshmellow truly made up for it. Oh, and don’t even get me started on how good the bread and butter was…

If you’ve got the chance to head to Temporada in the coming months, I highly recommend it! There are seriously dishes for everyone – I have to praise the grilled lamb ribs, spiced eggplant and lemon dressing ($33), and the whole roasted flounder, heirloom tomatoes and capers ($34), but even if you’re vegetarian this restaurant will knock your socks off the roasted corn… Wow!

Shari from GoodFoodWeek

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
