Are you a chef?
Nope – I just cook for family and friends in my own kitchen {and sometimes in theirs}. I auditioned for Masterchef in 2011 and was in the same casting group as Andy {who won series 4}.
My mum has always had an ‘open kitchen’ policy – so I guess as soon as I was able to reach the bench I have been cooking. I moved away in 2004, to live on campus at the University of Canberra and my cooking style and skills grew in leaps and bounds.
What food style do you cook most often?
I wouldn’t say that I had a typical style that I cooked most often. I have been influenced by travel, cookbooks, cooking shows on TV, as well as by family and friends. If there was a common thread running through my meals, I would have to say that I love a good ‘one-pot-wonder’ as I hate washing up and I love to use fresh ingredients.
What’s your favourite restaurant?
Canberra often gets a bad rap in terms of its food scene – and if you’ve bagged Canberra cooking then you just haven’t’ been looking hard enough! Some of my favourite Canberra restaurants include: those found in this post
Where do you do your grocery shopping?
I do the majority of my shopping at Belconnen Markets on the weekend. I also enjoy the farmers markets – although Epic is a little tough to get to since having children. I prefer the Southside Farmers Markets {and when they find a new Northside venue – that will be the bomb}.
When did you start blogging?
I’ve been blogging since 2008.
How often do you post on your blog?
I try to post at least three times a week – some weeks I am very, very organise and can get out a blog post daily. Other times, I get writer’s block and sit staring at a blank screen for ages before duties call and I am swept away to mop floors, cook dinner, change nappies or entertain our newborn {or my husband – he also likes being entertained}.
How do you find the time to blog?
It has just been a part of my life for so long that it seems almost weird if I don’t blog.
What type of camera do you use?
I always take photos using my iphone – as there wouldn’t be photos if I had to muck around with a proper camera.
Who takes your photos?
Me – if it were my husband they would be blurry, or of my boobs, or people would be missing heads.
