About Me

Mother of four young boys, lover of one-pot-wonders, creator of delicious treats, drinker of tea {and the odd Campari and soda}, thrower of dinner parties, baker of birthday cakes. …Oh and hater of washing up!

Hi, I’m Shari… Mummy to ‘Mr Moo’ , the ‘Little Dude’, ‘Z man’ and ‘Buddy Boy’ – GoodFoodWeek is me sharing a collection of recipes, an assortment of motherhood tales and a mixture of memories.

All I ever wanted to be was a Mummy. I was blessed with Mr Moo in 2013. We joke that it took Mr GoodFoodWeek seven years to propose and yet it only took me two weeks to fall pregnant {on our honeymoon}.

The Little Dude joined the crew in 2014. Z man in 2016 and finally, Buddy Boy in 2019. As many a random likes to tell me, I’ve got my hands full…but so is my heart!

Being a mum is all forms of awesome, but it is also far from easy. I want my readers to find an honest account of motherhood here – the lonely parts, the defining parts, the shitty parts {literally}, the joyous parts, the parts that make you laugh and the parts that make you cry … so you can take a deep breath and know that you’re not alone.

Just as this blog has evolved*, motherhood is an evolution – no two days are the same and just when you think that you are on top of it all, the game changes.

So if all I can do is give you a no fuss cake recipe or a weekly meal plan {with a list of ingredients that you can drop directly into Coles online}, I hope this blog makes your day a little easier.

MY FAVOURITE MEAL IS…

Anything I didn’t have to cook. I always through that it was funny when my Mum said that her favourite meal was anything she didn’t have to cook – my Mum was/is an awesome cook. But now that I am a Mum, I understand the effort that goes into getting food onto the table for the family and how on some nights, all I want is for my husband to bring home a pizza {or fish’n’chips or Thai – I don’t care, I just don’t want to have to think about it}.

I FEEL MOST ALIVE WHEN…

I am in the ocean. You know that feeling as you dive under the wave and you’re holding your breathe, then you brake through the surface and you take your first breathe and the sun warms your face…that’s when I feel most alive {so I am thankful that my parents still live close to the beach}.

I COULDN’T LIVE WITHOUT…

Netball. Like all of the seriously stuff first – my sons, my husband, my best friends, air and mangoes…but then I would say Netball. I love exercising with friends. I love getting on the court and having a run. I love the feeling of releasing the perfect shot – you know that it is going in before it leaves the tips of your fingers. At Netball I am me.

I’M ADDICTED TO…

MY GUILTY PLEASURE IS…

Coke-a-cola. Love, love, love that little red can.

GoodFoodWeek is a blog full of posts about:

  • food {one-pot-wonders, recipes inspired by seasonal produce, super salads, winter warming recipes, toddler friendly snack ideas, and the odd bit of gluten free}
  • motherhood {birth stories, momentous moments, crazy outbursts, crying, laughing, dinosaurs – lots of dinosaurs}.
  • kid’s stuff {because I am a mum and kid’s stuff is part of my life now}
  • general observations {because sometimes I just want to share a story with someone who is over the age of 4}.

* GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!

Sometimes it’s all a bit overwhelming being a mu Sometimes it’s all a bit overwhelming being a mum of four and working full time.

Sometimes you wonder if you’re doing a good enough job.

Sometimes you wonder if you’re giving everyone everything that they need - even if you’re running on empty.

It was an emotional weekend losing out an a house (yet again) at auction and marking my pop’s one year anniversary since he passed away.

And then this beautiful man brings me home hump day flowers - I mean Wednesday ... but he might also get lucky 😉
Baked feta pasta from #tiktok fame... I did my re Baked feta pasta from #tiktok fame...

I did my research, I didn’t want blandness.

So in with my feta and my cherry tomatoes I popped; oregano, sundried tomatoes (and the flavoured oil they came in), heirloom tomatoes, garlic, green olives and seasoning.

Baked at 180 for 20 minutes then mashed with a potato masher (obviously I removed the stalks 😝). Added fresh basil and 1/2 cup pasta water and cooked pasta. Toss and devour!
Satay chicken bowls for the win! Rice noodles, ca Satay chicken bowls for the win!

Rice noodles, carrot, cucumber, spring onion, snow peas and snow pea sprouts and chicken breast (sliced thinly and seasoned with garlic powder, white pepper and salt and wok fried in sesame oil) ... topped with this super simple satay sauce.

1 can of coconut cream
1/4 cup of peanut butter
1 tbsp kecap manis

Bring to a simmer and whisk until smooth. Allow to reduce my 1/4 and then add to the top of the satay bowls with fresh chili
