Giving it all that you’ve got

September 14, 2013 by Shari

Take a deep breathe in, you’re not going to throw up, you’re not going to throw up, you’re not going to throw up. There is nothing more inside of you, you just need to be quiet and still. You’ve given it all that you’ve got and now you need to recharge yourself.
There are times in our lives when we put in so much effort – we give all of ourselves and then some. We want to be loved and appreciated in return… But sometimes those who we are looking to provide us with that love and appreciation are void of it.

We can’t ask ourselves why these people do not love us – we will never truly understand the way they think or feel and so it’s better to not worry ourselves about it. But move on and gather those around us who do love and appreciate us.

I have watched loved ones fight this battle. I have watched them second guess themselves, make themselves sick with worry, try and change who they are to make these people happy. But they can’t!

These people often don’t even have an issue with the person who they can not love or appreciate. It just may be that we come into these people’s lives when they have other issues on their plate which cause them to not have enough love to go around, or they are jealous, or they are filled with hate from another situation in their lives.

As I said before, we can not guess what their issues are and so it is best not to try.

I have found people who love and appreciate me for me. They do not judge me when my hair is unwashed or my house is untidy or there isn’t enough food on my table to share.

They offer to hold my baby so I can shower, they offer to help me fold my washing or do my washing up, they appreciate what is on the table and they are grateful that I am sharing it with them.

I love these people and am so grateful that they are in my life.

They help me when I have given all that I have and received nothing in return. They fill me up with love – because really, love is all we need!

So thank you to all of those special people in my life who fill me with love – I am truly grateful for it!

Shari from GoodFoodWeek

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
