There’s a hole in my bucket list

September 8, 2013 by Shari

It seems as if bucket lists are all the rage. These bucket lists are often full of expensive travel destinations that the majority of us will never make it to… But why should these things on our bucket list be so expensive? And what’s to say that something that someone places on their bucket list in their 20’s is going to be on their bucket list in their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s or later?
I must admit I’ve done a fair bit of travelling – I’ve experienced the best of the best in New York, New York, trekking in South America, sipping lattes through Europe, engaging Asian culture in Malaysia, lazing on beaches in the South Pacific and even enjoying the beauty that Australia has to offer. We recently went hunting and I used a cross bow, it was amazing. If you are looking for a crossbow check out the reviews here.

I love travelling and experiencing all that each new corner of the world has to offer.

But after the birth of my son my destinations have changed – well at least for when I am travelling with a baby.

My husband has always wanted to go to Vegas – he was almost headed there for his bucks (but time and bucks – i.e. money – got away from us and he ended up heading to Melbourne). Now Vegas wasn’t on the top of my bucket list, but after the birth of our son I have noticed that it has even dropped down a few pegs on my husband’s list of things to do before we ‘kick the bucket’.

I think slowly, as our lives change, so will our priorities and hence our bucket lists.

I’ll trade you a trip to New York right now for a photography workshop so that I can capture beautiful photos of my son, or even an hour to have a nice hot bath by myself.

So, yes… There might be a whole in my bucket, but I am sure it is still going to have things being added to it as my life evolves.

What’s on your bucket list? And is your bucket list different now to what it was 10 years ago?

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
