Some times we get so bogged down in our lives doing what we think we should be doing that we miss out on great adventures. It is my aim to say yes to more things that pop up (instead of feeling like I should be at home mopping floors or ironing work shirts – because these things will get done at some stage).
The other day I was emailed by Corrie from Retro Mummy asking if I lived in Sydney as she was having some readers attend an event. Even though I live in Canberra, I was going to be in Sydney visiting my family on school holidays… So I said yes!
And I was so amazed at the event because it went above and beyond what I had expected and I got to meet a) Corrie – who I have a bit of a blogging crush on and b) Fast Ed – who I have a bit of a chef crush on.
I thought it was going to be a few nibbles and we were going to hear a bit of a chat on kitchen health. It was actually a three course meal prepared in the dishwasher – yes, that’s right I said dishwasher, and a chat about how using your dishwasher is a way safer practice then washing your dishes in the sink.
For example, did you know that your hot water comes out of the tap at 38 degrees, but your dishwasher heats the water to a minimum of 60 degrees – enough to cook a sou vied chicken breast (or any bacteria left behind from chicken on your chopping board).
You can check out all the photos that I took of the amazing food if you follow me on Instagram – or if you check out the hashtag #dishwashingdining.
Anyway, here I am rocking up at this fancy lunch with my Mum and Mr Moo in toe and we just had the best time! Mr Moo behaved himself and sat patiently in the pram for 2 hours and then jumped at the chance to have a photo with Fast Ed (although Ed really did want a cuddle from Mr Moo).
We had an awesome lunch, learnt about food hygiene and safety in the kitchen (and heard that some people actually wash their tea towels with their undies in cold water – GROSS), met Fast Ed and walked away with an awesome goodies bag including Fast Ed’s new cook book and some great Finish products.
This was a super thing to say yes to – and since it went so well I am going to say yes to more and more things that push me out of my comfort zone (not that this pushed me out of my comfort zone, but you know what I mean).
p.s. Did I mention that Fast Ed is the most perfect guy?… If I wasn’t married…lol
