Christmas is a four letter word (X…M…A…S)

November 4, 2013 by Shari

Omg – can you believe that Christmas is less than 10 weeks away. In fact, it’s slowly becoming time for us to say that Christmas is less than 5 weeks away. And I haven’t even started my Christmas shopping! What do you buy a 9 month old?

As the silly season approaches, we are invited to the odd drink or two (I’m being sarcastic – how jammed packed are your diaries?). As a breast feeding mother you often feel like your only options are lemonade or water – sparkling water if you’re lucky.

So I thought that I would come up with a drink that was a little bit special. It has flavours of Christmas, a little bit of fruit, some bubbles – but no alcohol and no caffeine 🙂

As a breastfeeding mum, you also often feel like the only tea that you drink is cold brewed tea. So this recipe has also been inspired by tea that is also delicious cold – don’t get me started on how bad black tea or even worse green tea is cold.

Please note, this isn’t a sponsored post. I bought my Tea from T2 because I am addicted and really do love the product. Did someone say ‘French Earl Grey’? I highly recommend it!

Citrus Punch is described as a sweet and zesty citrus flavoured blend. Great aroma and a satisfying fruity flavour – containing apple pieces, rosehip peels, hibiscus flowers, and safflower. Sweet Spice is described as marzipan and orange zest combined with rose and raisin flavours with a whisp of cardamom and clove to finish.

COLD TEA PUNCH
2 tablespoons T2 Citrus Punch
2 tablespoons T2 Sweet Spice
300mls boiling water
300mls lemonade
750mls mineral water
1 punnet of strawberries
Ice

Place the tea into a small tea pot and then cover with the boiling water and allow to steep for 3-5 minutes before pouring the tea into a container and allowing to cool.

Fill a jug with ice and the quartered strawberries, before pouring over the tea, lemonade and mineral water. Take a spoon and give a quick stir before serving.

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
