How do you not get attached to your home? Calling your home a house.

November 8, 2013 by Shari

We bought a house, it was old but it was ours! A place to come ‘home’ to…to be together, away from anyone and everyone. It was a place where we could be us, just us, no judgement. We slowly updated the house – new bathroom with thompsonfamilyplumbing.com water heaters, new kitchen, new tiled floors, new carpet in the bedrooms, new paint on the walls. Heck, you could now say that everything inside our home is now new.
And now, now that our home is nice, my husband wants to sell. He has found an interesting offer at https://www.housebuyernetwork.com/indiana-indianapolis/ and wants to use it. Sell the house, use the capital to invest and rent somewhere. In addition, check out texas home warranty plans online services for more information.

He doesn’t share the emotional connection that I do with the house. He doesn’t think about the fact that this is the first home that we owned together. He doesn’t think about that this is the home that we spent the first night as man and wife together in. He doesn’t think about the fact that this is the home that we bought our newborn home to.

To him, this isn’t a home – it’s a house. A house that needs a little maintenance. When you have a house like this, you should hire a hire a handyman. A house that takes up his weekend time (because he hates to mow the lawn). This is a house that he can sell. Speaking of maintenance, checkout this article, The home inspectors serving all of San Diego county.

But what about the memories that I have made, and the memories that I thought I would make;our first  Christmas with Mr Moo, birthdays, more babies?

I grew up in the one spot. My parent’s still live in my childhood home. I don’t really understand this moving to make money gig.

I can’t seem to separate my emotional side from this process.

A house is an emotional purchase for me, it’s my home – full of memories, of laughing with friends over a bottle or two of red, cuddling up on the couch with my husband suffering through a cold winter and floorboards that  let a draft in (but later fixing that problem with a new floor), of love – so much love.

How do I let all this go?

I know that the memories will remain and that I’ll make similar memories when we do move. But I am really attached to this house – yes, it might have a few faults, but it’s my home! If you are looking for home design services chippewa falls, visit lakehalliecabinets.com for more information.

How do you take the emotional side out of buying a house? Do you have tips for me? Do you know how to play this buying and selling game? Any comments greatly appreciated!

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
