The 2014 Liebster Awards

September 4, 2014 by Shari

The lovely Samara, over at BlondeInk, nominated me for the 2014 Liebster Awards. Basically I answer the questions she gives me, I then write my own questions and nominate a bunch of other bloggers to participate. I love the blogging community in general – but more specifically the fun little group we have going in Canberra at the moment.

My turn!
1. What are you wearing right now as you answer these questions, be honest!

I’m wearing what I fit into (as I am currently 36 weeks pregnant)… this includes black Supre tights (because they are so economical), a black long sleeved Sussans maternity t-shirt and a over-sized cable knit jumper also from Sussans. I love that Sussans have decided to incorporate maternity wear into their range because you just need to try on maternity clothes (rather than buying them online)… And I love that their pieces fit together with their non-maternity range, because let’s face it you’re only in maternity clothes for a short amount of time.
2. What is your dream job and why?

Being a Mum! I know it sounds corny, but it’s what I have dreamt of my whole entire life… I love being a Mum and look forward to growing my family. I don’t think I’ll be stopping at two – I’d love a big family like RetroMummy… just don’t tell my mother-inlaw who wants me to stop at two.

I’d also love the ability to make some money as a blogger – which would allow me to remain a stay-at-home Mummy… But so far I haven’t made anything. I’m thinking I should attend the upcoming blogger conference in Canberra about ‘how to make money from blogging‘.
3. Of all the fictional characters in the world (TV, book, movie) which do you think is your soul mate?

Maybe Josie from ‘Looking for Alabrandi’… although I am the Australian and my husband is the one with some ethnicity. And if you’ve seen the movie – I’ve always wanted to be part of the tomato day, so if you are Italian and would allow me to be part of your tomato day, email me!!
4. On your smart phone, what is the last thing you took a photo of?

My Sweet Swap arrival – if you don’t know about the Sweet Swap check it out here
5. Do you prefer cats or dogs and why?

I’m allergic to cats, so that’s why I am going with dogs on this answer.
6. You win $5,000 on a scratchy, what do you spent it on?

I’d love a holiday somewhere tropical – I feel like this Canberra winter has been going on forever. I know I can’t actually go anywhere now…as I am too close to giving birth. But you didn’t say I needed to spend the money straight away.
7. What is your favourite TV show from your childhood?

I was just thinking about this show the other day (as my son is slowly getting interested in TV – I need him to be able to watch TV whilst I breast feed… fingers crossed). And I thought about how many times I missed the bus to school and had to walk because we were watching the end of the episode of Samurai Pizza Cats.

Samurai Pizza Cats was a cartoon series produced by Saban as an English adaption of the anime series Kyatto Ninden Teyandee (Cat Ninja Legend Teyandee), produced byTatsunoko Productions and Sotsu Agency.

8. Name a singer or band that you love but are too embarrassed to actually tell anyone you like.

They were in Australia a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t believe that their hits are now from  over 10 years ago – it makes me feel so old, but I am going to say Hanson. I had their posters all over my room and when they were singing on morning TV I still enjoyed their songs.
9. What was your last luxury purchase?

Gosh, I hardly spend money on myself anymore – it’s always on stuff for Mr Moo or baby-to-be… Hmmm, this is hard. Maybe some Clearskin skincare products from my sister in Sydney, but they are actually quiet reasonably prices and I don’t know if you would call face wash, scrub, serum and moisturiser – luxury.

…Maybe my husband will buy me a push present? Although I didn’t get one last time.
10. If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why?

My husband is Croatian and we spent three weeks there on our european honeymoon. I would love to go back to Croatia and visit the family that we have over there now that we have children. I was super jealous of the beautiful time that Beth from BabyMacBeth had over there with her family and I would love my children to know where they come from.
I nominate…

2014 Liebster Award Nominees

Angie – GnomeAngel

Emma & Carla – the merrymaker sisters: fit + healthy made

Sara – Belly Rumbles

Caitlin – Mother Down Under

Corrie – RetroMummy

And my questions for them are:
1. Why did you start your blog?
2. What makes you smile?
3. Do you like a home cooked meal or do you prefer to go out to a restaurant?
4. Did you attend the #PBEvent? And if you didn’t did you follow it on social media?
5. Who is your favourite person to follow on Instagram?
6. What accomplishment are you most proud of?
7. What would your theme song be?
8. If you had to eat a vegetable everyday for the rest of your life, what vegetable would it be? And what would be the top five recipes that you would make with that vegetable?
9. If you could be one Australian blogger, who would you be?
10. Do you think I am going to have a boy or a girl this time around? Why?

Shari from GoodFoodWeek

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
