One of my first ports of call was Bohemian Traders because I fell in love with this breastfeeding friendly outfit on The Beetle Shack (who owns Bohenmian Traders). I bought the extact outfit pictured here – which is just so summer and so effortless. I loved the linen dress and the scarf serves mutliple purposes (and I had a tan belt just like that in my cupboard)!
Motherhood: what to wear – breastfeeding
I love breastfeeding – it’s simple and easy and oh so good for my little one. The one thing I don’t like about breastfeeding is breastfeeding fashion. Anything specifically designed for breast feeding is normally super expensive and extremely UGLY. So I thought that I would put a post together about fashionable breastfeeding attire.
I rocked out that outfit first (as seen below). I loved the use of the scarf as an accent point for the outfit, but it was also great to use as a modesty cover whilst breast feeding. It could also come in handy to wrap a little one or toss over your pram to block out the sun. It’s nice a light for spring/summer and just what every breastfeeding mum needs.
I also picked up the lovely button down swing tank in white and the striped skirt in navy. I love picking up pieces that have already been styled for you because you know that they are going to work. I also love that Bohemian Traders have a section at the bottom of each item called ‘related items’ and they are normally pieces from the collection that you can mix and match with what you have picked out.
I put a white singlet underneith the swing tank because I leak a lot and like to have an extra layer to ‘leak through’. I also popped on a long red cardigan when it was a little cooler – as it’s so easy to take white and navy to nautical.
Now, the next place I found some breastfeeding attire that I loved was Milk and Love. This is actually a fashionable breastfeeding dress – which isn’t a dual purpose maternity dress! Why make something dual purpose I ask as when you are feeding you don’t have a massive tummy. You may have a ‘little’ tummy for a short period of time and this ‘Art Greco’ inspired dress will hidden a mutitude of sins (and any leaking you may have until your milk regulates).
I also found some great singlets in Country Road last year which you can breastfeeding in because they are super stretchy. Made from 93% Nylon and 7% Elastane, they wash beautiful and haven’t lost their shape despite all the stretching. I asked them on Twitter if they had any breastfeeding friendly pieces in their range – as the face of their summer campaign is Gemma Ward, a new mum herself. They suggested some of their button down pieces, but to me they look very work like (and need ironing which most new mums don’t have time for).
Now it’s over to you… Where have you found fashionable, breastfeeding appropriate attire? Are you a fan of Bohemian Traders or Milk and Love? Would you like to see more posts like this?
