Life: what’s in my kitchen this month

March 1, 2015 by Shari

March, can you believe that it is March already? We are into Lent and Easter is just around the corner {5th of April this year for those who are wondering}. Next month marks Mr Moo’s second birthday and the Little Dude will hit his 6 month milestone. But I am getting ahead of myself – here is what is in my kitchen this month…

As you know, I’m joining link ups this year and this link up is hosted by Celia’s from Fig Jam and Lime Cordial.

In my March kitchen…

…is Wild Rice. I found this rice mix and I thought that I would give it ago. Wild rice is slightly higher in protein than most other whole grains, and is a good source of fiber, folate, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, zinc, Vitamin B6, and niacin. Research on the health benefits of wild rice is scarce, as the grain comprises such a small part of our food supply – although the few studies that do exist, however, show tantalizing promise.

Seeing as my family is a big consumer of rice I thought that I would give this wild rice blend ago and see if people enjoyed it {which they have so far}.

In my March kitchen…
there are lots and lots of grapes. Red grapes or green grapes, it doesn’t matter. Grapes are not only one of Mr Moo’s favourite snacks but I also got a little 80’s and included them in this great salad.

In my March kitchen…
…you too won’t be able to take your eyes off some of the beautiful creations from Moxom + Whitney. Moxom and Whitney is Canberra’s most exciting Florist located in the eclectic Lonsdale Street Traders precint in the heart of Canberra.
Co-owned by Lou Moxom and Belinda Whitney, this florist is not only unique but it’s organic wholesomeness is distinctly creative. Providing Canberra and its surrounds with not only beautiful flowers but also unique, made on the premises, terrariums {Miniature worlds of lush green moss, ferns and indoor plants featuring tiny “people” and “animals” in all manner of situations and scenarios and even desert scapes with cacti and meerkats…}
And I am so interested in taking one of their classes.

In my March kitchen…
…is an abundance of canned tomatoes. My best friend is getting married and she has asked me to collect cans of tomatoes {well the actual cans in particular}. Have you seen some cool looking/retro looking cans of tomatoes lately? Let me know where you saw them!
In my March kitchen…
…are delicious treats from Oliver Brown {newly opened in Dickson}. I’ll have a whole post about this awesome beligum chocolate/waffle house coming soon {think perfect for date night – eat in or takeway}.
In my March kitchen…
…Are figs from my inlaws tree. I’m so glad that I am not pregnant this year so that I can one again climb up into the tree and make the most of collecting these beauties. Because I will probably be pregnant again next year 🙂
What is in your kitchen this month? Let me know if you’re joining in the link up!

Shari from GoodFoodWeek

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
