Motherhood: Taking a little Me time

May 18, 2015 by Shari

As a Mum, you have to run on empty A LOT. So every now and then it is nice to do something to recharge your batteries. Seeing as the Little Dude isn’t taking to solids {or the bottle for that matter}, it means that I can’t go very far without him. Because of this, I am saving up all these ideas for when I can take a little me time and rejuvenate myself.

Now, first and foremost, any Mum would like a little bit of pampering when it comes to recharging her batteries and I have a beautiful gift voucher for Le Beauty Lounge {that my husband purchased for my birthday}.

I can’t decide whether I will go for a massage or a facial {or maybe I will just do both – oh and I really need to get my eyebrows waxed}.

It’s the little things like getting your eyebrows waxed and your teeth cleaned at the dentist and orthodontist that I like to do as soon as I am able to leave my little one with Daddy, long enough for me to actually get there, get it done and get home before they need they next feed.

But I would also love to go and do a course {something like this requires a little more time and planning to be able to escape the house child-free – but definitely worth it}.

If you’re in Canberra, then you must have driven past Moxom + Whitney in Braddon. I love just walking past the shop front and seeing what they have in store – my heart just skipped a beat when I saw that they actually offered classes!

When I read ‘Come and enjoy a night of laughter, cupcakes, champagne and nibbles. Learn how to create beautiful displays for your home, as gifts or as decoration for an event. We will show you how to choose, prep and care for your displays plus let you in on handy hints and tricks we florist-type peeps use everyday…’ I thought ‘Yes, yes, YES!’

I’d love a night out with a few girlfriends {or even a night to meet some new and interesting people} and to come home with either a bouquet or a little world that I have created in my very own terrarium {doesn’t that sound sheik?}.

At $150 a head I think this class may be one of my first outings when I can leave the boys with Daddy {without fear of my youngest starving and therefore crying the house down}.

If you’re interested in this class call them on 0477 888 805 for more information or to book.

Do you know what I would love even more then a night out? A whole weekend away {because my husband gets to go away with his mates for the weekend}!

I’d love a beautiful weekend away with a few girlfriends – and I know just where we would go. I’ve got my eye on Bowral… I’m thinking of sitting in front of a roaring fire with a lovely glass of red and then attending one of these workshops run by Mill Lane.

I follow Mrs Munro on Instagram and her work is just beautiful. I actually went to university with her sister {it’s such a small world/six degrees of separation and all that}. I’d love to take a class like her slow stitch Saturday series or maybe take a leisurely 5 hrs to master the concept of baking French breads {yum}.

How do you recharge your batteries? Have you completed a course that was AMAZING – let me know in the comments section.

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
