Motherhood: A Canberra Mummies Series – Laura from The Creative Muster

June 21, 2015 by Shari

Today, I would like to introduce you to Laura from The Creative Muster. Laura founded The Creative Muster blog in 2010 as a way of encouraging herself to finish her many making projects. She has a knack for identifying and delivering the most sought-after DIY craft projects in her unique classic-juxtaposed-with-quirky style.

An insatiable maker, Laura often makes limited edition pieces with a “one for me, and a few extra for the shop” approach, delighting customers who are looking for something unique.
I was introduced to Laura by Lauren over at The Thud. And once I looked at her beautiful blog and etsy shop I thought that I would really like to introduce her to my readers. I mean look at the beautiful shot she had her husband take of her and her beautiful girls for my blog.

1. What’s your favourite café to go to with children?

We love to go to our local, A Bite to Eat in Chifley, especially on Sunday nights when they have live music and the kids can dance.
2. Where do you go in Canberra to have a little ‘ME TIME’?
I just love to go shopping by myself for some ‘me time’ – it’s a rare luxury!
3. What is your child/rens favourite meal?
They love roast rack of lamb with home chips and salad from our garden followed by rhubarb crumble.
4. What is your ‘go-to’ recipe when there is pandemonium in your house?
I always have batches of Bolognese sauce frozen and ready to go for those days that descend into overtired chaos. I add whatever vegetables are growing in our garden, especially silverbeet.
5. When you can’t get dinner on the table, where do you order takeaway from?
We love Flavours of India in Woden. Our kids have started eating curry which is a stroke of luck!
6. What is your day-to-day beauty routine?
I have used Kora Organics foaming cleanser daily for years, it is the best cleanser. I also use a Clarisonic at night to make sure all the makeup is removed.
7. Where do you get your eyebrows waxed?
Nowhere. I wax them myself because I know exactly how I want them to look.
8. Where do you take your child/ren that’s not too expensive {as in an outing/ it could be FREE}?
Always the National Gallery of Australia. They love it.
9. Where do you take your child/ren when it is cold and wet outside?
You can find us on the couch watching The Martha Stewart Show.
10. What do you love most about raising a family in Canberra?
Life is easy in Canberra. It offers a healthy, simple lifestyle with lots of space.

Do you make purchases from Etsy? Do you like to support your local crafters? Have you been to the National Gallery of Australia lately? Do you watch the Martha Stewart Show?

Shari from GoodFoodWeek

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
