QUESTIONS FOR CANBERRA MOTHERS
1. What’s your favourite café to go to with children?
Anywhere that has high chairs and doesn’t mind squealing. I’m actually a big fan of the Arboretum because it has the world’s coolest playground and it also has a huge café that’s roomy enough to park a dozen prams around one table. It’s like it was built for mother’s groups.
2. Where do you go in Canberra to have a little ‘ME TIME’?
What’s ME time? Coles after dark?
3. What is your child/rens favourite meal?
Pasta. Plain. Zero vegetables.
4. What is your ‘go-to’ recipe when there is pandemonium in your house?
Pasta. Plain. Zero vegetables.
5. When you can’t get dinner on the table, where do you order takeaway from?
Probably pizza. I’m still on the hunt for really good Thai food. I ate it weekly in Sydney and haven’t found the perfect spot in Canberra just yet. Anyone want to suggest a place?
6. What is your day-to-day beauty routine?
I like to shower every day *wink* But seriously, I’m a bit of a beauty junkie. I worked as a makeup artist while I got my Masters degree so makeup is my thing. I always wear, at the very least, some concealer (I have seriously dark circles under my eyes. They’re genetic and they’re horrible), bronzer to hide the fact that I’m so bloody pasty, some eyeliner to prove I have eyes and some brow pencil because my brows are really fair and you don’t look done without your brows on. DON’T FORGET YOUR BROWS PEOPLE!!
7. Where do you get your eyebrows waxed?
I don’t! I’m a plucker. I pluck my own. I could never wait until my eyebrows grew out because I’d look like a wildebeest. I get those suckers the second they make their hairy appearance, this is why I have always thought of getting microblading in Charleston, SC, just so that I don’t have to worry about my brows for a while. YOINK, you’re gone buddy! No chance to grow up and experience life. You’re gone the first day you breathe air.
8. Where do you take your child/ren that’s not too expensive {as in an outing/ it could be FREE}?
I want to say Canberra Zoo which is kinda free for us because we bought memberships for Christmas. It’s a brilliant idea because we can go for a couple of hours and leave when my son has had enough and we don’t feel sad that we missed anything because we can just go back the next week. Of course, that’s not free/ cheap for everyone….
Other than that, it’s any one of a dozen parks near us. We also love ‘Play Up’ at Old Parliament House which is free. We went to the Civic Merry-Go-Round last week and that was a MASSIVE hit. Will definitely be back there.
9. Where do you take your child/ren when it is cold and wet outside?
The little play areas at any shopping centre. He goes nuts, it’s free and they’re almost always next to a Donut King or a café of some sort so I can get a hot chocolate and watch him do backflips while I sit for five minutes and not have to worry about him trying to escape the pram or trolley.
10. What do you love most about raising a family in Canberra?
Life is easy in Canberra. It has all the perks and amenities of living in Sydney without any of the hassle. We’re lucky to have great childcare in walking distance from our house and we’re in a great school area. There’s always something to do. We love it!
Thanks again Lauren for partaking in my Mummies series. It was lovely to find out a little bit about you and see some super cute photos of you and your little boy.
