Recipe: Monday meal ideas – four delicious meals based around cabbage{seasonal veg}

June 22, 2015 by Shari

I’m a fan of cabbage {especially the mini savoy cabbages that I have been purchasing lately}. And since it is cabbage season, I thought that I would give you some meal inspiration with this seasonal veggie. All these meals are warm and hearty – perfect for the weather that we are having at the moment.

It has been cold, wet and miserable here in Canberra. It rained last Wednesday which meant that Paint and Play in the park was cancelled. But I did have the awesome opportunity to try Yoga with the lovely Jenny from LoveWednesday on Tuesday {so we weren’t trapped in the house all week}.

The creche at the gym was so lovely. Mr Moo ran in so excited to see all the things to play with – he didn’t even notice when I left to take the class and was happy to play the entire time. When I did return, I had to promise a babycino to get him to come to the cafe with me.

The hour and a half to myself, without anyone touching me, was so recharging! The yoga class was just what I needed to help me be more engaged and happy when I am with the kids.

I can’t believe how young Mr Moo looks in this shot from a year ago when we were all rugged up to hit the Northside Markets for some fresh cabbage for our Minestrone Soup.

Are you a cabbage fan? What is your favourite cabbage recipe? How do you keep the kids amused when it is cold and wet outside? Are you a fan of yoga?

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
