So the award I was nominated for is called the One Lovely Blog Award.
Nominations are chosen by fellow bloggers for newer or up-and-coming bloggers. I was nominated by Jules from Boob in a Box {hi and thank you Jules!}. It is so lovely to know that people are actually reading. I see the google stats to know that people are reading, but it is so nice to actually connect those numbers to real people {and to interact with them}.
The goal of the award is to help give recognition and to also help the new blogger reach more viewers. Who doesn’t love a bit of link love?
In order to accept the award the nominated blogger must share seven facts/or things about him/herself and nominate 15 bloggers you admire. I’ve chosen to share my link love with fellow foodie bloggers – I hope that I can introduce you to a new blog or two.
So, seven facts about me …
- We are about to experience some big changes in our life. In fact everything is changing! We are changing states, we are changing homes, we are changing cars, we are changing jobs, we are even changing the number of people in our family – that’s right, I’m expecting our third!
- I have a linen addiction – seriously and it scares me since a family loved one is an addict, what’s better then getting into bed after you have changed the sheets? I won’t let anyone go to bed without having a shower/bath first and I have to change the sheets weekly. I love looking at fresh linen on Instagram {it actually takes up way more time then I should let it}. Some of my favourite sheet accounts include; I love Linen, Styling You { #cleansheetsday}, Adairs and Kip & Co.
- I was in love with the series ‘Call the Midwife‘ – and cried for days after the final episode {in which Sister Evangelina died}. I really enjoyed watching how midwifery changed over the late 1950s and early 1960s. But how it is actually very similar to the birthing process of today. I feel like there is something so empowering about giving birth and am in awe of the power of the female body.
- I prefer long hair on myself. I have only ever cut my hair to shoulder length twice in my life. The first time was in Year 6 and I cried for months after the big cut was made. The second time was when the Little Dude was around 9 months old. I thought that it would be easier to have shorter hair, but I am so used to it being long that I decided to grow it long again – the time I saved blow drying and straightening was minimal.
- I actually don’t mind going to the dentist. I had been to only one dentist from my first appointment when I was four years old until I had my teeth cleaned just before my wedding. I decided after I got married/had children that I really couldn’t justify driving to Sydney every 6 months just to have my teeth cleaned, so I found a dentist here in Canberra. I am hoping that when we return to Sydney that I can get back into my original dentist.
- I’ve been inspired by Mandy from Little People Nutrition to reduce the amount of waste that my family contributes to the world. If this is of interest to you, then you might enjoy Mandy’s post ‘How do you become a zero waste family?‘
- When I created this blog I had the dream to provide my readers with a no fuss cake recipe or a weekly meal plan {with a list of ingredients that you could drop directly into Coles online}, in an effort to make your day a little easier. And then I was approached by The HipCook to come and be a part of their app. A system that collates and brings together all of your recipes from everywhere with the awesome feature of a shopping list- my dream for a couple of years now. So I jumped on board and I’d love for you to check out the app in the app store.
And here are 15 great foodie reads – I understand if you’re too busy to follow on with this, I just wanted to share some link love with you; Simone from Play With Food, Mandy from Little People Nutrition, Marie from The Toddler Ingredient, Sammie from The Annoyed Thyroid, Vicki from Boiled Eggs and Soldiers, Kim from Land of Zonkt, Lauren from Create Bake Make, Nancy from Plus Ate Six, Lisa from Chocolate Meets Strawberry, Laura from The Kiwi Country Girl, Jayne from The Purple Ladle, Ruth from Pea Fritters, Lucy from Play Bake Smile, Krissy from Pretty Wee Things and Beth from BabyMac.

I’m actually really stressed and emotional about everything at the moment – but I am sure that once I am in Sydney and settled, I’ll be okay.

Thanks for the nomination! Did I miss something? Where are you moving to? It was fun to learn a little more about you. I’ve always had long hair too. I just can’t imagine ever wearing it short!

It’s all been a bit of a whirlwind Sammie. We are moving to Sydney in the next month or so – it was planned that we would sell our family home and rent in Canberra for a year before moving, but all the stars aligned at this point in time and we have been go, go, go for the past month or so trying to organise it all. I really haven’t had the opportunity to sit down and blog about it properly. But the cats out of the bag now and I shall hopefully get a post or two together in the next few weeks.
