Hey big boy, where did you come from? I feel like it was yesterday that Daddy and I were having my ‘last meal’ at Yarralumla Turkish Pide House before heading into to the hospital to be induce the next morning. I kissed Daddy goodbye at 10pm and was planning on seeing him at 7am the next morning when I was set to be induce, but you had other plans – sending me into natural labour at 2am that morning. I could not have imagined the completely overwhelming amount of love that I felt for you, that very first time that you were placed in my arms. And my love for you has only grown.
You are such an affectionate little boy – always coming over to give Daddy or I, a little hug and a kiss. You tell us that you love us all the time and when we reply that we love you more, you always respond by letting us know that you love us more.
You love your little brother so much! You are always watching over him and sing to him when he gets upset. The other day, the two of you had figured out how to use the see-saw without my help. You were pushing each other up and down and laughing and it made me so happy to see you playing so nicely together.
You are extremely active – loving to run and climb, ride your bike, kick the ball and swim – anywhere and everywhere. You want to be outside from the moment you wake up until the moment I call bath time. We are so lucky that we have a big backyard in which you can spend hours using up your energy and building your imagination.
We enrolled you in swimming lessons at two and a half and you demonstrated that you were good enough to take part without Mummy having to getting into the pool {which was awesome, as then Mummy could swim with your little brother}. Your ability in the pool and your water confidence grew in leaps and bounds over the next 6 months and we can’t wait to see what you will achieve in the pool as you get older.
If there is something to climb you will be at the top before I can call to you to ‘go slowly’ or ‘remember to watch where your feet are going’. You don’t like me to hold onto you or to steady you whilst you’re climbing. But I’ll often stand below you and just let you know that I’m a safety net incase you fall.
You love listening to music and singing along. It always makes me smile when I can hear you singing along to the radio whilst we are driving. Daddy asked me to make a playlist of all the songs that you sing off the radio and it is constantly growing as you pick up lyrics so quickly. I think your favourite song at the moment is ‘Shut Up and Dance with me‘.
You are quiet the cafe aficionado – after yoga on Tuesdays we always stop at Double Shot in Deakin to grab a coffee and a babycino. The man behind the counter always has your babycino and extra marshmallows ready to go as soon as we walk in the door.
On Wednesdays we hit up Edgar’s Inn in Ainslie after Paint and Play. Once you have had enough of playing at the park, you’ll find your best friend and ask him if he is ready for a babycino – this is always marks the end of play. As soon as you mention the babycino no one wants to play anymore. There babycinos come with chocolate buttons and once upon a time you could get in quick to have one of your brothers – but now he can sink a cino and devour that special side treat quicker then any kid in the playground.
You can hear a motorbike from a mile away. The other day you got a great thrill from the policeman asking if you’d like to ride his motorbike. You sat on the motorbike for 20 minutes – until the policeman had to leave.
Happy birthday beautiful boy. We are so proud of the polite, clever, affectionate, strong-willed boy that you are growing into. We love you to the moon and back and hope that you have the best third birthday. May God watch over you and keep you healthy and safe xox

Cute! They grow up too quickly. But isn’t the pair of them playing together just the best bit!

I know – he loved it so much. And the policemen were really nice, they actually said that if any policeperson has stopped, that they love when children come up and ask if they can have a ride on the bike. Now Mr Moo always has his eye out 😉

Thanks Sammie – I hope that three is a really super year. I’m just excited that he is toilet trained, that has to make it a good year – right? 😉

Happy birthday to your little man . Three is such a great age when little ones become independent and we have really been enjoying 3 so far with our Miss Moo who turned 3 in January . X

Thank you 🙂 I think that I will enjoy him being three. The independence, the ability to use the toilet, the ability to tell you what is wrong with descriptive words, the love, the wonder in the world – motherhood and watching him grow is such an awesome ride. Your Miss Moo is a serious cutie xo
