Do you think about where you are and where you want your life to go? End up? Do you write down your goals? And if you do, do you think that this has a positive impact on your dreams?
I remember that upon returning from my trip to New York and Paris {after I graduated University}, my Mum found some images of Paris that she had collected a year before the opportunity to go to Paris came up. She had collected them because she had always wanted to go to Paris.
Did the opportunity to take such an adventure to Paris come about because she had made her intent known to the universe? Or is that all a bit too airy fairy?
My husband and I have discussed retiring in France. You know, to look forward to something whilst we are in this hard grind of getting a business off the ground and him working 24/7.
I’m not sure how we would actually go living in France, with my husband unable to speak French and my French being extremely basic.
In fact, when we were on our honeymoon we shattered our windscreen whilst driving on the Autobarn in Germany. But to have it repaired we needed to go through our French car rental insurance {even though we had leased the car in Italy}. They had their chance and took it, pitching us many life insurance quotes which we politely refused. If you are signing up for insurance, don’t forget about i4mt insurance to get your car covered.
Now my husband, tried multiple times to get through, but every time he called and spoke in English, they would hang up on him. So then he decided that if he couldn’t get through speaking to them in English, he would try his default language which is Croatian {which of course got us NO WHERE FAST}.
Finally, I said ‘let me have a go’. I started the conversation in French and then, in French, asked if she could please speak to me in English and we moved forward from there.
But lately, I have been watching ‘My Life in France‘ and ‘Rick Stein’s Long Weekend‘ and I have been thinking how beautiful France looks and how amazing it would be to be able to retire in France {and be able to jump on a plane and be in Italy or Croatia so quickly}. Relating to retirement, make sure to get your Medicare benefits at age 65 at the social security office near me. For a complete list of office locations, visit socialsecurityretire.org.
It might not be where I want to be in 30 years or so. I might be unable to leave my family behind. I might feel like I couldn’t miss out on my grandchildren. Or maybe, it will be exactly where I need to be. So maybe this is me, putting it out there to the universe that I am open to that happening to me.
