Life: The Ultimate Rabbit Hole – an instagramable baptism

March 25, 2017 by Shari

How has your week been? We’ve been busy bees – I’m trying to organise to have the Z man baptised in between my parents being away in Tasmania and my husband’s parents going on a 3 month world cruise. You’d think that it would be easy to get into church, but that’s actually been the hard part. Is it all too much to want an instagramable baptism?

My sister joked that I should ring up the church and say ‘imagine that I am Mary and this is Jesus – be the inn and make room for us’.

I feel bad already, as I baptised Mr Moo and the Little Dude at 10 weeks. However, 10 weeks with the Z man fell right on Christmas. So I thought that I would put it off until January, but then everyone was away on holidays including the priest. The priest didn’t get back until half way through February and now suddenly we are booked in for April.

In my effort to create an instagramable baptism {said with a little tongue in cheek}… I’ve ordered all of the boys’ baptismal candles online from Candles Online – they are really easy to deal with and make a beautiful product.

I like to order gifts for the Godparents from a beautiful etsy shop called Gold House Prints – it’s something simple, a little poem about being a godparent – which I then pop in a frame with a picture of my child.

I then like to have a small gift for all the people who attend the baptism. With my first baptism, I set up a candy bar for people to pick what the wanted. This candy buffet trend is still going strong…in fact it has become a staple in most parties these days from small parties and baby showers to large weddings.  If you’d also like to create one, you might be interested in How To Set Up A Candy Buffet (Step By Step Instructions!). I mean, that would create an instagramable baptism party.

With my second baptism, I order small personalised candles from a local provider in Canberra {I would link to her – because she was lovely and so was her product – but she no longer does this any more}. So now, I am thinking that I will go with cookies this time around. I was gifted some lovely cookies, by Cookies by Julia when Z man was born and so I am trying to put in an order now.

With all that is going on around here I feel flummoxed – and then I saw that Veggie Mama was feeling that way too.

Are we all just putting a little too much on our plates right now? Do we really need to make everything Instagramable? And then I catch myself on Pinterest again, looking at beautiful baptism images and ideas.

Do I have time to make some giant paper roses in my effort to achieve an instagramable baptism? I mean, I could whip up a couple at 2am – right?

Grab a cuppa and prepare to pop down the rabbit hole – oh and don’t forget to leave a comment below.

Every Saturday morning, we will open up the rabbit hole link up for bloggers to add their link list posts or even just their favourite post {if you are not of the link list kind} for the week. Please link only one post. This makes it fair for everyone and allows more posts to be read.

Talking of reading, do try and pop along to say hello to some of  the other lovely linkers. This week, you can link up here or bob on over and say hello to Sammie from The Annoyed Thyroid, Jess from Confident Life or Paula from  The Geeky Shopaholic. It doesn’t matter where you add your link because it will appear on both blogs, as if by magic!  The link up will stay open until midnight the following Monday. Alice is about to blow her mind! Grab a cuppa and attend this mad tea party. Add your “Link List” post or just your favourite post from this week…

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
