Z MAN: 6 Months Old

April 13, 2017 by Shari

Wow – 6 months already! If I thought that time flew with your brother, well then this is just getting crazy. I mean I don’t know how you can be 6 months old already? It seems like yesterday that we were bringing you home from hospital. And Daddy was working 24/7 at our new business. I worked out that Daddy was home a total of one week in the first 3 months of your life – no wonder it has all been a whirl wind to me.

We brought you home from hospital and your brothers have been in love with you ever since. They might fight between themselves, but they are always in love with you {maybe this is because you can’t talk or take their toys away from them yet?}.

We had such a run around in the beginning, with us needing to look into a hole in your heart, which thankfully closed on its own. And then there was the issue with everyone thinking that you weren’t putting on enough weight and wanting me to pump and mix feed. But I stuck to my guns – tuned everyone out – and found my rhythm. You slept soundly and put on weight and everyone was happy.

Your hair has been getting longer and lighter – just like your brothers. You have beautiful, big, blue eyes that light up the room – along with your smile. You are always smiling – and laughing from about 4 weeks of age.

As soon as you were placed on my chest, the midwife commented that you had strong legs. I said I already knew this from all the kicks I got on a daily basis. I knew that you would want to be on the move ASAP, trying to keep up with your big brothers. You were a super quick roller – rolling back and forth from about 6 weeks of age. And you’ve been on the move commando crawling from about 2 months.

At 5 months, you looked like you really wanted to try food. I thought that I would wait until 6 months to try you on solids, but you just want to join in on the family meals – so we started you on solids two weeks shy of 6 months. You LOVE food – you must take after your Mummy. If you haven’t finished eating and we try to do something else like get your brother a drink or help someone with the bathroom, you completely loose it. All focus must be on you and the food when you are eating.

You are such a happy little fella and we are so glad that you have blessed us with your presence.

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
