It’s June and winter is well and truly here! I jumped out of the car today to fill it up with petrol and thought ‘where is my coat?’ I had jeans, a t-shirt and a jumper on – but I was still cold in the wind. In Canberra, I would never get out of the car without a coat in winter, but in Sydney I hadn’t even thought about heading out the door with one.
It’s COLD and I haven’t been down to the markets of late because I have been so sick… I know that when I do make my way back, that I will most definitely feel the change in the air.
Being sick and unable to leave the house, has left me with lots of time for reading things on social media. I have been loving Dave’s {from Harris Farm} Market Update. And seeing that they deliver in cardboard boxes rather then plastic, it has made me think that I might try an online order or two. Have you ever ordered online from Harris Farm?

We have been enjoying these sweet treats from Bulla. I mean, who doesn’t love a custard tart? So when a PR firm asked me if I would like a box or two to be send out, I said ‘YES’.

I have become slightly addicted to a morning coffee and a muffin from our local ‘Cooked and Co‘. I normally grabbed a coffee on the way home from preschool drop off and some times again on our walk to preschool pick up. Whilst I have been unable to get out and about, my Mum and my husband have brought me home coffee and sometimes a sweet treat. This gluten free chocolate muffin was particularly delicious.

I’ve been busy adding this bosquito from La Boqueria to our homemade pizzas. Based on the foundation of a Salchichon salami, this particular embutido is made with the wild forest mushrooms collected in the hills around Cataluña. These mushrooms are dried and then rehydrated with Fino Shery. This forces the maturation to slowdown and create a long aromatic bouquet and a full flavoured pallet reminiscing of the forest of northern Spain.

We can’t get enough of pears. I like a crunchy pear and they sure have been crunchy of late. In fact, last week it was really nice to cut up fruit after dinner and bath time and share apples, pears and watermelon before we put the boys to bed. I thought that the watermelon would be too messy for pj’s – but the husband sorted it all out and I decided not to get caught up in things like that.

I’m sampling other kombucha and finding ones that actually use sugar – rather then sugar alternatives. I have recently been enjoying the various flavours from Herbs of Life. Herbs of Life are a boutique artisan company in the heart of The Blue Mountains specialising in therapeutic herbal teas, dehydrated crispbreads, and traditionally fermented kombucha beverages.
