Review: Good Brothers

August 24, 2014 by Shari

Seriously, pregnancy brain is taking over and I think I would forget my own head if it wasn’t screwed on! The other week, I took a friend and her little one to check out ‘Good Brothers’ in Dickson and let’s just say that I owe the wait staff in there big time… Thanks for bringing me all my stuff that I left behind.

We were in Dickson for ‘Wiggle & Giggle’ at the library – a great way to keep the kids entertained for 30 minutes on a Tuesday morning (and it is FREE). And then we thought that we would treat ourselves with a decent coffee.
I know a lot of mums just wonder out of the library and grab a coffee from the closest thing – but let me tell you… there is a MUCH MUCH better option just a hop, skip and a jump away.
We grabbed our prams and walked down to Good Brothers and it was definitely worth it!
You might pass by this whole in the wall and think nothing – but trust me – you should head inside and check out everything that they have to offer.
Good Brother’s have been on my radar for a couple of years now as they seriously make some of the best pre-made sandwiches and sushi in Canberra. They think outside the square for fillings and the breads which they use are outstanding.
We both ordered sandwiches to have with our coffees… I had the grilled mushroom and goat’s cheese toasted, and my friend ordered the cooked tuna which was packed with delicious salty capers (don’t you just love a good surprise). And when our sandwiches were delivered to our table they came with a side of chips – potato chips, like you used to have for school recess… too cute!
Sadly, I didn’t grab any images of the sandwiches or chips as they were eaten quiet promptly but some very hungry mummies.
This cafe is great as there is plenty of room for prams inside (down the back of the cafe) and outside in the sunshine (which will be lovely in the spring/summer time).
If you’re around Dickson (for Wiggle & Giggle) or any other reason – I highly recommend this place as a point to stop.

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
