Review: The Cupping Room

August 10, 2014 by Shari

So we hit up ‘The Cupping Room‘ in civic, as our third cafe in my series about ‘eating out’ with a toddler. We were out early on a Saturday morning (as Daddy needed us to drive him to his car after he attended an awards night the night before)… so I thought that I would make the most of it and treat ourselves with breakfast out.

Lots of people don’t eat out for breakfast as they figure that they can do it quicker, cheaper and easier at home. But let me tell you that ‘The Cupping Room’ smashed our breakast out of the park!

I ordered a mixed juice and a soy latte which came out promptly. I would have liked the coffee to be a little hotter, but it went down nicely all the same. I always have a snack in my bag for Mr Moo to munch on whilst we are waiting for our food to arrive, as I find it always makes my ‘coffee drinking time’ much more peaceful!
I ordered the kid’s ‘eggs and bacon’ for Mr Moo and for $7 I think this is one of the best value kid’s breakfasts I have seen. There was a massive serve of scrambled eggs on top of some delicious toast with a side of crispy bacon. Mr Moo sat and ate the entire meal with his fork (I should have brought a smaller fork with me – but he was enjoying the eggs so much that the adult size fork didn’t seem to bother him).
I order the ‘Jamon & eggs’ for myself and the staff were so accomodating – I first asked if my jamon could be cooked (as I am pregnant) and they said that that wouldn’t be a problem as it was 8am and there weren’t too many tables ordering yet. I then asked if they would be able to cook my eggs a little longer (again as I am pregnant) and they again were very accomodating.
I finally asked if they could check if the fetta was pasteurised (again as I am pregnant) and you would have thought that I hadn’t already asked them to make two small amendments to the meal – the waitress was friendly as ever and oh so accommodating and was able to let me know that it was in fact pasteurised and safe for me to consume.
This breakfast was delicious and everything I could have wanted!
Mr Moo was happy to sit on the chair and eat – it would have been good if there was a high chair or booster seat, but if your child is happy to sit on a chair then this wont be an issue. I also noticed that the toilets were up a flight of stairs (which would be an issue if you had to go up with a pram), but thankfully we didn’t need to use the toilets either.
All in all, we had a wonderful experience at The Cupping Room and we would go back in a heart beat! I’m not sure what the traffic is like during the week, but it is a great place to take your toddler early on a saturday morning (because let’s face it – who isn’t awake early on a saturday morning with a toddler?).

Shari from GoodFoodWeek

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
