Motherhood: Date night

March 8, 2015 by Shari

So you know how I met Love Wednesday the other day at Netball and I totally have a blogger crush on her and her instagram feed. Well, she is all about keeping the spark going with your husband and goes on dates with him every Wednesday – making the effort to find a sitter for her 4 kiddo {I’m impressed, and a little jealous}.

We aren’t at the point where I can leave the little dude at the moment, because he likes to feed {breast feed – I’ve tried expressing and the bottle isn’t going down so well} so frequently during the early evening. So I need to think outside the square and I think that we might just have to start the ‘stay – in’ date night.
Just because we are at home doesn’t mean that we can’t make an effort to put the kiddos to bed a little earlier and focus on ourselves {and our relationship}, whilst enjoying a special treat and maybe a movie on Foxtel, I have really been trying to learn more about getting our of our comfort zone in our relationship, I don’t want to feel to comfortable because I love my husband way too much to lose that spark.

Now for those of you who don’t know, Oliver Brown has just opened up in Dickson {think next door to where Trinity used to be}.

Oliver Brown’s story began in Australia in 2010 when our company launched their first store in Top Ryde, Sydney {come on Canberra, let’s launch something cool foodie wise here – instead of it always being Sydney or Melbourne}.

With all their chocolate made by their partners in Belgium and one of Australia’s best Coffee bean roasters, it wasn’t long before their company started to grow at a phenomenal rate, specially since they use the Best single serve coffee maker. Oliver Browns’ success is built not only on their passion to offer the best quality coffee and chocolate but in realising that to be loved and respected you must first respect the cultures and needs of others.

And frankly, what Mama doesn’t need a hot cup of coffee and a little bit of fancy chocolate??

Oliver Brown realize that it is critical they understand that no matter where you visit them around the world that you receive the same taste and ambience their signature brand wants to deliver.
That’s a pretty good promise to us Canberra!

Now, all that sounds awesome – but what if you can’t make it into store? Nevermind, you can take their delicious treats home – ‘take-away’ style.
We picked up some of their amazing belgium waffles. One serve came with belgium chocolate, fresh banana, fresh strawberries and vanilla ice-cream. The other serve came with belegium chocolate, grilled banana, toasted walnuts and vanilla ice-cream.
They were thoughtful enough to place the ice-cream in their takeaway coffee cups so that it wasn’t a melted mess when we arrived home. And I have to say that it was some of the best vanilla ice-cream that I have ever tasted!
Have you tried out Oliver Brown in Dickson? Do you have a special date night with your husband? Have you seen Love Wednesday on instagram?

Shari from GoodFoodWeek

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
