Life: What’s in my kitchen

June 1, 2015 by Shari

It’s June, JUNE PEOPLE! June marks three years of marriage for me {and it seems crazy that I have had two kiddies in three years}. I love that we had a winter wedding. I wore my great grandmother’s fur as my something old. And I certainly loved the fact that we then jetted around the world to have a summer European honeymoon. I like to take stock of our family on our wedding anniversary – assessing where we have been and where I would like our little family to go {just as this post assesses what is in my kitchen each month}.

I know that I don’t want to fall pregnant this year with a third, but I am thinking about a third and when they will fit nicely into our family. Speaking of our little family, we are slowly becoming gluten free – as my sister is a celiac – so a few of my products this month are gluten free. But there are also some amazingly good bakeries in Canberra {and I do love a fresh sour dough}.

As you know, I’m joining link ups this year and this link up is hosted by Celia’s from Fig Jam and Lime Cordial.

If you’re wondering what other links up I have joined this year you will find the list below:

  • Vicki from Boiled Eggs and Soldiers and Kim from the Land of Zonkt host ‘Your Weekly Feed’
  • Lauren from Create Bake Make , Lucy from Bake Play Smile and now Dannielle from Zamamabakes have put their chocolate filled minds together, to bring you the newest and yummiest link up party in town…. ‘Fabulous Foodie Fridays’.
  • Sam from The Annoyed Thyroid, along with fellow bloggers Calm to Conniption, A Little Part of the World and Our Urban Box host ‘The Ultimate Rabbit Hole’.
  • And the Weekend Rewind list, hosted by Maxabella loves, Life, Love and Hiccups and The Mummy & the Minx.
In my June kitchen…
…I have been impressed by the quality of Ingham’s gluten free breast nuggets. We don’t eat many pre-packaged products, but I thought that these might be nice to have in the freezer for a quick hot lunch on a day when I was under the pump. And I wasn’t disappointed! I don’t think many people would guess that these were in fact gluten free and I think they are some of the best chicken nuggets I have ever eaten.

…I have had a few packets of these M H organic crispbreads. I am a fan of the cheese and pumpkin seeds flavour.  I love them for lunch spread with cream cheese or a little avocado or both. I picked them up from the Belconnen Markets and they will definitely be a repeat purchase.

… There has been a delicious pulled pork roll from Knead Patisserie at the Belconnen Markets. Knead have upped their lunch time game – they continue to make their delicious pies, pastries and bread rolls, but now they are also filling those bread rolls with some delicious fare.

In my June kitchen…
… our fridge has been stocked with the award winning eat. apple and cinnamon organic yoghurt. And you know what, once you have tried it, you will know why it is AWARD WINNING. It is so thick and creamy and delicious, with just the right amount of apple and cinnamon. I also purchased this yoghurt at the Belconnen Markets and it will definitely be a repeat purchase.

…The fresh nutmeg hasn’t ever been too far away, as I love it in my béchamel sauce. With the cooler weather come a few of our family’s favourite winter warmers like lasagna and moussaka.

What have you had in your kitchen this month? Are you a yoghurt fan? Have you tried any awesome gluten free products lately? Are you making some delicious winter fare now that the weather has well and truly cooled down?

Shari from GoodFoodWeek

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
