Weekend Rewind: Maxabella inspires me to get #inthepicture

June 5, 2015 by Shari

Some times blogging can be scary – you’re putting yourself out there for others to comment on. Some times blogging can be a hard slog – you’re pumping out content and you’re wondering what it is all for? And yet some times blogging can be awesome – like when one of your blogging idols sends you an email and asks if you will be a guest host for their ‘Weekend Rewind’ link up.

I’m a big fan of Bron from Maxabella. She has inspired me to make more amazing memories with my little ones and to get #inthepicture. Some times I find myself so caught up in washing, ironing, cooking and cleaning {aka being a ‘domestic goddess’ – I say tongue in cheek} that all my Mama mojo falls away. I become the grumpy Mummy, the nagging Wife and the uninspired blogger.
But when I put aside some of the home duties {because the floors don’t really need to be vacuumed and mopped every day} and spend a little more time embracing the joy that little ones find in the everyday, I’m a funnier Mummy, a sexier Wife and an interesting blogger {or so I hope}.
I thought that I would share with you some of the things I have done to make some awesome memories  and photo ops #inthepicture:
* Have a picnic lunch in your backyard – you were going to eat lunch anyway {and if you’ve got young children, it was probably already on placed on a plastic plate}, so why not grab a rug and enjoy your lunch in the sun. My boys love being outside, so also being able to eat outside BLOWS THEIR MINDS {remember my eldest is two}!

*Walk to the park and have a go on the swings – In my almost 2.5 years of being a Mum {and 5 years of being a super awesome Aunty} I have pushed a lot of little ones on the swing. But swinging is fun – so why shouldn’t you jump on the swing too every now and again? I love walking down to the park with my boys, playing in the park and walking home – it’s FREE {and hopefully, on the walk home they will both fall asleep}.

*Take a ride on public transport – you might have caught the bus or train to work every day before becoming a stay-at-home-mum, but your children will often get a big kick out of travelling on public transport if they don’t normally take it. Whilst in Sydney we caught the ferry and my eldest thought it was the greatest experience – not to mention the fact that we also spent the day at the beach and then the afternoon swimming in Nanny’s pool.

* Go on a ride with your child – as Mummies, we often let Daddies jump on the rides with our little ones. Why not take turns? Mums don’t always have to be the ones left to mind the pram or hold the bags.
* Jump in the bath with your little ones.{Okay, so you might not want a photo of you and your little ones in the bath, but it’s not like you need to upload it to social media or share it with your extended family. And it might help show your kids you have a positive body image}.

When was the last time that you got #inthepicture ? What do you do to make awesome memories with your little ones? What makes you a better Mummy? Are you going to join the link up today?

Shari from GoodFoodWeek

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
