Mr Moo: 30 months {or 2 and a half}

October 5, 2015 by Shari

I can’t believe that you are two and a half now…where is the time going? Sometimes I think that you are still so little and then at other times I see the big boy that you are becoming! You bring me and your Daddy so much joy every day. I love writing these posts and I love re-reading these posts and remembering all the things that you used to do.

At 25 months, you told me that you wanted to walk instead of ride in the pram. You listened to my instructions to hold my hand and were such a good little boy. We walked passed one of those ride on cars and you wanted to have a turn. It’s funny how you never actually noticed them whilst you were riding in the pram, but now you can spot them from 200m away.

You asked me to hop into the Wiggles ‘Big Red Car’ – however, the car wasn’t that big {or maybe my bottom is just too big}. I sat along side of you and you took me for a little drive. I gave you the ‘5 minute wind up’ and then asked you if you wanted to walk or ride in the pram. You said that you would walk and took my hand again. Your hand at 25 months fits perfectly within my hand {I have small hands and your hands have always been big, just like your great Dida’s}. I wonder how long your hand will fit within mine – and when you will begin to take my hand in yours?

At 26 months, you have an ear for music and a memory like a steal trap for song lyrics. It always surprises me when a song comes onto the radio and you can sing along with it – verses and choruses – Daddy and I think you’re pretty amazing. I think your favourite song at the moment would have to be ‘Sugar’ by Maroon 5. I was known for my kitchen dancing at university and you love when I turn the music on and we have a boogie together. It is so nice that your baby brother is beginning to join in too.
You are getting a little cheeky – I think the terrible twos have begun. Although in saying that you are a very good little boy and we are blessed that you are in our lives.

At 27 months, your vocabulary is exploding. We can understand more and more of what you are trying to tell us. You can tell us your name and how old you are. And when we go to Gymbaroo, you can recognise your name on the bib that you wear. You also like to tell everyone your little brother’s name. You beam with pride that he is your little brother and I love watching the relationship between the two of you grow.
At 28 months, we took you to the snow! YOU LOVED IT! You weren’t phased by the snow and the cold. You just wanted to build snowmen and throw snowballs and even eat the snow – but you knew that ‘yellow snow was a no-no’. We were passing a snow mobile that had broken down and you called out to your Daddy to bring your tools because you needed to help the man fix it. It was really cute. You love ‘working’ on your car at home with your tools and I wonder if you will be a mechanic when you grow up?

At 29 months, Uncle Dane cut your hair again. We sit you in the highchair and place trains upon the tray. You are happy to sit and play with the trains whilst Uncle Dane cuts your hair. Once your hair was trimmed nice and neat you looked instantly older – like I had lost my toddler and now you are a big boy. You don’t like it anymore if I say that you are my baby and you correct me and let me know that you are a BIG BOY.
At 30 months, you have started to say our last name and it makes your Daddy beam with pride. You like to say your name, and then let us know that your brother has the same last name, and that Mummy has the same last name, and that Daddy has the same last name. You are so happy that we all share the same name. This is something I really thought about when I was getting married and tossing up whether or not I would take your Daddy’s last name or keep my maiden name. I loved my maiden name – but I love that you love that we have the same last name even more!

 I love you Mr Moo. I can’t wait to see what the next 6 months has install for you as you grow and learn and change. I hope that the next 6 months are filled with good health, happiness and laughter. Love Mummy xox

      He certainly is a character. I can’t believe how much he has to say for a two and a half year old. And he has most certainly been melting my heart since day one!

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
