Guest post: the benefits of children drinking filtered water by James Andrews

August 8, 2016 by Shari Leave a Comment

Do you drink tap water? Do your children drink tap water? Have you decided that your family will only drink bottled water? Have you thought about the impact that bottle water has on the environment? Now, I’m a little addicted to a bit of bubbles whilst I am pregnant – no, not champagne – I’m talking Sodastream! I like the idea that we are actually still drinking tap water {as we are still getting the benefits of fluoride from the tap water and we aren’t contributing to landfill by purchasing mineral or soda water}. But what about bugs that can still be present in said tap water? Today, I have a guest post for you on the benefits of children drinking filtered water. I hope that it is of interest to you! Drinking soft and pure water is one of the best ways to staying healthy, if you don’t have 100% pure water on your home visit http://wholehousewaterfiltrationsystem.com/california/sacramento/!

If you have children then you want them to be as healthy as possible. Part of this is making sure the water that they drink is good for them. Many people mistakenly believe that bottled water is the best thing for their children to drink. This is not true; it’s actually no healthier than tap water and it’s bad for the environment. Whole House Filtration system from the best water treatment companies servicing Arizona homes removes contaminants from your tap water, so you can drink clean and safe water.

We are going to take a look at the truth about tap water and bottled water and why it’s a far better idea to filter the tap water that you drink  with a maytag refrigerator filter so that it’s safe for you and your children.

What is the problem with tap water for children?

It may seem like if tap water is there, and readily available, then surely you should just be able to drink it. Of course, you can drink it but it is not the healthiest option. There are many additives in the water that comes out of your tap, including chlorine, fluoride and ammonia which are added to the water to kill off bugs, and pesticides which tap water picks up as it travels through the system. It’s important to remember that just because some of these products are added to water to get rid of dangerous bugs does not mean they make the water completely safe for your children to drink. The additives themselves can have harmful effects.

Why is drinking bottled water not a better idea?

Bottled water can be deceptive in that it’s no safer to drink than tap water. In fact, drinking bottled water is a worse idea as it’s also detrimental to the environment. One of the most important things to realise about bottled water is that many of the plastic bottles end up in landfills or cluttering the oceans of the world. The production of bottled water is also a wasteful process; it takes three litres of water to produce just one litre. You can clearly see why drinking bottled water is not the best idea.

Why filtering water makes sense

If you want to make sure that water is safe for your children to drink you should make sure that the tap water in your home is filtered. Your best option, when it comes to filtration. Depending on finances, you may alternatively like to opt for a tap water filtration unit which will provide Clean & Clear Water. There are different types of individual filtration unit available. You can opt for one that sits on the counter top or one which fits under the sink. Either of these units provides the clean and fresh water that your children need to drink if they are going to remain hydrated and healthy.

You can see that the healthiest option for children, when it comes to drinking water, is to drink filtered water from the tap. It has the additives filtered out of it so it is safe for your children to drink.

Shari from GoodFoodWeek

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
