The Ultimate Rabbit Hole: I’m guesting hosting

September 17, 2016 by Shari

Welcome back! It’s my third week guest hosting The Ultimate Rabbit Hole for Sammie from The Annoyed Thyroid and I am not sure that I will want to give up the role when she returns – I love it so much. I am loving seeing all the wonderful posts that are linked up each week and I love all the people who stop by to comment on my blog posts too.

For today’s Ultimate Rabbit Hole links, I’ve got two National Food Days to share with you… It is both National Apple Dumpling Day and National Monte Cristo Day.

I had to clarify what each of these items were before I proceeded {I’ve included definitions just in case you were wondering too}.

An apple dumpling is a pastry filled with apple, cinnamon and occasionally raisins. Apples are peeled and cored, placed on a portion of dough, then filled with cinnamon, butter and sugar. I thought that I would share with you an old fashioned apple dumpling recipe and then a Mountain Dew apple dumpling recipe {yep – Mountain Dew, as in the soft drink}.

A Monte Cristo is a fried ham and cheese sandwich, a variation of the French croque-monsieur. I thought that you might be interested in reading what Martha Stewart has to say on the old monte cristo sandwich and then I thought that I would look for monte cristo sandwich variations for you {you’ll find multiple variations down the right hand side of the post}.

GoodFoodWeek 36 weeks pregnant

I whipped up myself some of this delicious vanilla bean and coconut rice pudding from The Macadames this week {minus the spiked poached pears}. Rice pudding is okay to eat for breakfast right?

I couldn’t believe that anyone could be awful to Chantelle from Fat Mum Slim – but some one was at ProBlogger – and she spoke about it here.

I would have been in the crowd cheering for you, Chantelle – and also Emily from Have a Laugh on Me, if I had been able to fly up to ProBlogger…blah, to being so pregnant! I am so over people who think they can say whatever to whoever and just get away with it.

I saw this written down today and saved it in my iphone ‘when a toxic person can no longer control you, they will try and control how others see you. The misinformation will feel unfair but stay above it, trusting that other people will eventually see the truth, just like you did’.

I just think it sucks that there are a lot of really nice people ‘rising above it all’, when some bitches just need to be punched in the face.

Every Saturday morning, we will open up the Ultimate Rabbit Hole link up for bloggers to add their link list posts or even just their favourite post (if you are not of the link list kind) for the week. Please link only one post. This makes it fair for everyone and allows more posts to be read. Talking of reading, do try and pop along to say howdee to some of  the other lovely linkers. Link up here, over at Calm to Conniption or The Geeky Shopaholic. It doesn’t matter where you add your link because it will appear on all three blogs, as if by magic!  The link up will stay open until midnight the following Monday.

Shari from GoodFoodWeek

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
