Motherhood: baby led weaning and Organix

October 24, 2016 by Shari

We’ve been purchasing Organix since August 2015, when I first wrote about purchasing their ‘finger food’ in my August 2015 ‘In my kitchen’ post {hoping that the Little Dude would appreciate that he would be able to feed himself and hoping that Mr Moo wouldn’t devour them all in 5 minutes}. And they were such a hit that I then picked up ‘oaty bites’ in September 2015 {because sometimes you don’t have time to make everything from scratch when you have little ones}.

**I received compensation in exchange for writing about Organix‘s new range of fruit pots . Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are my own.**

I was excited to hear that Organix was launching some new products to aid in baby led weaning, in October 2016.

I’m all about baby led weaning and Organix {I mean check out that cute little dude}!

The Little Dude enjoying his Organix

Their new products include delicious fruit purees made with 100% organic fruit, each little pot is one of a child’s 5 a day.   These pots are perfect for encouraging your little one to explore taste and texture and helping to build confidence and enjoyment with food.

There are a choice of flavours and different textures for little ones from 7mths+.  You can choose from Mashed Apple & Mango or Apple & Raspberry with pieces. And they can be found at Woolworths for $5.70.

Along with a delicious range of baby biscuits – specially developed with baby in mind. Their unique ring biscuit is perfect as baby’s first organic biscuit. The easy to hold ring shape has been created for little hands to get to grips with. Their biscuits contain nothing unnecessary, with no artificial flavours or sweeteners and made from wheat flour and mixed with grape juice and so all the flavour comes from the fruit.

You’ll find them available in banana, vanilla and strawberry flavour. The boys actually cracked open the strawberry ones as soon as our delivery arrived and we took them with us to the park as part of our picnic. They were delicious.

New products from Organix

Finger foods are a great way of offering variety to your child, as they provide a whole new world of exciting tastes, textures, shapes and colours, in foods that are easy for your child to grab and get hold of so they feel more in control of their choices.

Try these 5 tips for finger foods from Organix:

1.    Experimentation and development: the introduction of finger foods encourages little ones to accept new foods, but finger foods have lots of other benefits too.  They can help to develop a little one’s sense of independence, and boost their hand-eye co-ordination and motor skills.

2.    Unique shapes: your baby is starting to self-feed and to develop a desire to want to do things themselves.  Offer them finger foods that are the perfect size for their little fingers to grasp and pick-up.

3.    Learning new tastes: throughout the weaning journey give your baby lots of opportunities to explore new and different flavours, after all baby foods don’t have to be bland!

4.    The right texture: offering lots of texture choices will help develop your baby’s curiosity about food and build their confidence and enjoyment.

5.    No added sugar: look for finger foods that contain no unnecessary added ingredients, such as sugar, artificial flavours or sweetener.

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
