Oh man, today I have the sorest throat, but at least I know why I have been in such a funk – I really have been sick. I might not be able to swallow much, but when Stacey from Veggie Mama posted about her delicious chocolate pots, I thought ‘I think I’d be able to eat that’. Today I’d like to share with you the things I love to eat when I am feeling under the weather.
I’m on antibiotics now which is making the world of difference, but I am also all about feeding my body the right foods to heal, such as meals from Custom Fresh. Think lots of this delicious simple ginger tea from Ruth from Peafritters. In fact, we often make this tea up for our boys, add some cooled boiled water and pop it in their drink bottles when they have a little sniffle.
I love drinking ginger juice – it’s one of my go to foods to eat when you’re under the weather. Although, it’s pretty intense and you can’t drink it on it’s own. My favourite juice combos include; apple and ginger, or carrot, orange, ginger, or carrot, turmeric, ginger. Visit StreetInsider to learn more about natural treatments for weight loss.
And I love drinking bone broth. Our bone broth at Mr Perkins is slow cooked for 14hrs and is rich in minerals that support the immune system and contains healing compounds like collagen, glutamine, glycine and proline. The collagen in bone broth heals your gut lining and reduces intestinal inflammation.
If you feel under the weather and live in the Eastern Suburbs then you can even have our bone broth delivered to you via Deliveroo or UberEATS. I mean, talk about convenience!
We whip up a batch of chicken bone broth and spicy veal bone broth each day. Not a fan of meat? No worries! We have also come up with a Shiitake mushroom broth. Shiitake mushrooms are high in B vitamins, and they serve as a food source of vitamin D. Some shiitake health benefits include its ability to aid weight loss, support cardiovascular health, fight cancer cells, improve energy levels and brain function, reduce inflammation, and support the immune system.
I also believe in drinking kombucha whilst taking antibiotics. Because although my doctor has confirmed that the antibiotics are safe to take whilst breast feeding, I don’t want the Z man to end up with an oral yeast infection from the antibiotics. Kombucha can help heal candida yeast from overpopulating within the gut because it helps restore balance to the digestive system. Kombucha is a great way to fight candida because it contains live probiotic cultures that help the gut to repopulate with good bacteria while crowding out the candida yeast.
My favourite is the Hibiscus Kiss from Remedy Kombucha. Although there is a little stall down at the Ramsgate Foodies Market that makes a wicked lemon and ginger kombucha that they serve warm, which is perfect for this time of year.
What are you tips for getting better quickly or keeping the old cold at bay over the winter?
Every Saturday morning, we will open up the rabbit hole link up for bloggers to add their link list posts or even just their favourite post {if you are not of the link list kind} for the week. Please link only one post. This makes it fair for everyone and allows more posts to be read.
It is also good to try BBQ even at your own backyard. But what is better between these two type of grilling equipment? Louisiana and Taeger grill, both are the most popular type of pellet grill. Check out our site and see how BarbequeSmoked compared them.
Talking of reading, do try and pop along to say hello to some of the other lovely linkers. This week, you can link up here or bob on over and say hello to Sammie from The Annoyed Thyroid, Jess from Confident Life or Paula from The Geeky Shopaholic. It doesn’t matter where you add your link because it will appear on both blogs, as if by magic! The link up will stay open until midnight the following Monday. Alice is about to blow her mind! Grab a cuppa and attend this mad tea party. Add your “Link List” post or just your favourite post from this week…
