Here are some more great recipes for you to whip up on Christmas Day, or Christmas Eve, or for your street Christmas party, or maybe on Boxing Day to jazz up your leftovers from the day before {let’s face it – I think most of us cook way too much on Christmas Day, even if you just have your Christmas ham leftover}. I thought I would give you a wide variety of recipes today including; a delicious non-alcoholic drink, a main that thinks outside the box {or at least your loaf pan} a side and a salad.
I really feel like my turkey meatloaf could be a godsend for someone who can’t really cook – or at least finds the prospect of cooking a whole turkey way too much {or, you know, you left your run down to the shops a little too late and now you’re faced with the prospect of no turkey at all}.
I had a discussion with someone the other day about how lots of Americans get sick from incorrectly prepared/cooked turkeys during the festive season {higher odds of stuffing it up when they cook one bird for thanksgiving and one bird for Christmas day}. Their Food Standards Agency has issued an alert over the risks of food poisoning from cooking the stuffing inside the turkey or failing to defrost a frozen bird properly. It also warns that washing the turkey, thought by many to be a useful way of cleaning away harmful bacteria, can actually do more harm than good.
That’s why I am recommending that you don’t stuff anything – and you make my stuffing cups instead.
I’m hoping that you feel inspired by one or two of these recipes and feel like you can take on Christmas day with easy. Remember, if you whip up any of my recipes during the festive season, please grab a snap shot and share it on social media, using the hashtag #goodfoodweek.
