Argh! I am feeling super lucky to be the guest host of The Ultimate Rabbit Hole whilst Sammie from The Annoyed Thyroid has a little break. Heading down the Rabbit Hole, each Saturday afternoon {if the boys decide to nap}/evening whilst the husband watches the AFL is one of my favourite things to do each weekend.
It’s Father’s Day TOMORROW – and for those of you who might still be scrambling for a gift this might be of interest to you: Father’s Day Lunch Cruise – Darling Harbour. But if DIY is more your thing, here is a link to 20 Last-Minute DIY Father’s Day Crafts.
As a little ode to Sammie, I have found out that September 5th is international bacon day – and the world is a better place because of bacon, so here are a few bacon recipes to brighten your day; Martha Stewart’s Best Bacon Recipes, 20 Fast and Easy Bacon Enhanced Meals, and 11 Recipes that prove that bacon makes everything better.
I’m always on the look out for some delicious lunch ideas {because I’m really not a sandwich girl}. And because we are often eating our lunch park-side, there is a lot of ‘lunchbox’ inspiration. So here are 10 Lunches Pins to check out:
- 8 Lunchbox Ideas for adults {or kids}
- Good Eats: 3 busy girl lunches
- All kinds of lunchbox inspiration from ‘Bless this Mess’
- A French inspired Bento Box
- 20 Amazing for school kids
- Cute lunch box ideas from ‘BrendaWritesABlog’
- I wish someone could just whip me up one of these beautiful Japanese lunches
- Lunchbox Ideas from Lindsay Olives
- ‘Back to her Roots’ Healthy Lunch Ideas
- And how could I go passed this ‘Hip Hop’ #foodart from We play with our food for ‘The Ultimate Rabbit Hole?
And how could I go any further without sharing some link love with some of my favourite blog posts from some of my favourite bloggers? I’d love for you to check out:
This new recipe from Anisa Sabet – The Macadames looks delicious, but what is this ‘slow morning and a good book’ that she speaks of? I’m normally trying to scoop mouthfuls in between; buttering extra toast, changing nappies and popping on pre-recorded episodes of ‘Paw Patrol’ so that I can get everyone dressed with minimum fuss.
Have you heard of Simone from Play With Food? If you have a fusser eater you need to check her out. Here is a great blog post from Simone about ‘what not to say to a parent of a fussy eater’.
I’m always up for a little chit chat with another Mama – so if you are too, here is a great post from Mandy at LPN – Chit Chatting with CC a Swedish Mum in Sydney. I’m sorry if you have a craving for Ikea Meatballs after reading that post!
And finally, I’d like to introduce you to ‘TheWorld And Kids’. Kidtopia Festival is a brand spanking new kids outdoor festival held over 3 days these October school holidays – and she has a family pass to give away.
Every Saturday morning, we will open up the rabbit hole link up for bloggers to add their link list posts or even just their favourite post (if you are not of the link list kind) for the week. Please link only one post. This makes it fair for everyone and allows more posts to be read. Talking of reading, do try and pop along to say howdee to some of the other lovely linkers. Link up here, over at Calm to Conniption or The Geeky Shopaholic. It doesn’t matter where you add your link because it will appear on all three blogs, as if by magic! The link up will stay open until midnight the following Monday.

I love you keeping up with Sammie’s NFD tradition. Great links. I hope you had a great weekend.
Shari from GoodFoodWeek says
Thanks Karin – I thought that if I was guest hosting for Sammie, then I had to include a NFD 🙂 We had a busy weekend down in Canberra – our last big trip before baby number three. Hoping everyone loves the links {Sammie’s shoes are big linky shoes to fill}.

One day is not long enough to celebrate the joy that is bacon! Thanks for hosting – hope you have a great weekend and get some time to yourself even though there’s no AFL games this weekend!!! xx
Shari from GoodFoodWeek says
No time to myself this weekend Tash – we spent the weekend in Canberra…it was probably the last time that I would be in Canberra before baby number three arrives. We thought that we could catch up with my husband’s parents for his Mum’s birthday and for Father’s Day. He also spent a lot of time working {but hopefully that means no more single parenting for me before the baby is born}.
Paula @ The Geeky Shopaholic says
Hey Shari! I’m so glad that you’re guest hosting with us! I forgot it started this week though, but I’ve updated my post to link to your blog! 🙂 Now I’m off to check out those lunch box ideas!
Shari from GoodFoodWeek says
Thanks Paula – I’m loving the opportunity to be guest host!

Yay – thanks for keeping my seat warm and for sharing such ace links! Thanks for keeping the National Food Day tradition going strong – I actually had bacon and pancakes for brekkie today, and the pancakes were Mickey Mouse shaped no less!
Shari from GoodFoodWeek says
Thanks for the opportunity to keep your seat warm! I thought I couldn’t be your guest host without a National Food Day link – and I was stoked that it was bacon! I’m glad that you got to enjoy your bacon in true Disney fashion with Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes xox

Lovely to see you hosting this week Shari.
Bacon day… I’m going to have me some for brekky this weekend in honour.
Yes please, can someone make me those Japanese lunches, I could eat them every day.
Meatballs are always on my list when I visit Ikea thanks for the link to remind me, I can’t believe they don’t have prawns in Sweden.
Have a wonderful weekend X

Thanks Sarah – I am a big fan of this link up and so totally stoked to be hosting! I think that bacon should be celebrated once a week, not once a year – so you enjoy that bacon a little more often!!
