Mr Moo: 3 and a half

October 5, 2016 by Shari

I love sitting down every 6 months and looking through all the photos that I have taken of my children. I think that it is so easy to get caught up in the day to day grind that you sometimes forget about all the joy these little people actually bring into your life – and how quickly they are actually growing up. This week I have had the opportunity to reflect on Mr Moo – who is now three and a half.

Wow – I can’t believe that you’re three and a half Mr Moo. Some days I expect you to be so much older then you are, but you always try and meet the challenge. The past 6 months have seen so much change for such a little boy and you have handled it all so well.

At the beginning of this 6 month period, we were living in Canberra. You loved your routine of ‘paint and play‘, ‘creche’ and ‘gymbaroo‘. You loved catching up with your best friend at Play Up and going for babycinos. We concurred toilet training which was awesome.

And then we changed it all on you. We moved to Sydney and my ability to chase after you got smaller and smaller as I grew another sibling for you.

But you took it all in your stride – announcing to us that you ‘loved your new Sydney house’ and that you didn’t want to go back to your ‘old house with paint on it’. Daddy kept asking why you were referring to Canberra like that and then it clicked that we had actually painted the house for sale and that’s what you were referring to, that you will sell the house to cash house buyers. Actually he used to check out some awesome paintings at Gallery-k and some how gets inspired too. Josiah Rock is his one of his favourit site where he use to check paintings lot.

You were so excited to live near the beach. And seeing as Sydney was so much warmer then Canberra, we practically started swimming as soon as we got up here {even though it was Winter}. We even took you to many different indoor water parks.

You are still in love with the outdoors and are as active as ever. But you have also shown an interest in sitting down for the odd craft activity or doing some ‘school work’. We have enrolled you to start preschool next year and I think that you will just love being able to make new friends and learn new things.

You also have a love for animals, which has seen us grab a family membership for Taronga Zoo. It seems like every time we go, there is something new or at least different to see. You love the exhibits that are hands on and the playgrounds throughout are also awesome.

Speaking of playgrounds, you love being able to walk to our local playground. We go at least once a day and you are very masterful at climbing. If we are driving and you see a playground, you always ask to stop and have a play. I try to stop as often as possible, but sometimes I feel like we live our lives at the park and I just keep driving.

Mr Moo, you bring so much joy into our lives and I am so blessed that I get to be your Mum. You have the ability to turn our lives upside down, to disrupt our plans and our sleep, to try our patience, and to elicit our most ferocious love. You also have the power to teach us the greatest lessons we’ll ever learn.. I love you to the moon and back xox

Shari from GoodFoodWeek

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
