I had grand plans for when I was due to start my maternity leave. I was ready to nest. I was going to CLEAN. Like seriously clean, in the two weeks of maternity leave I’d blocked out before he was due to arrive.
I’d made a list of all of the cleaning jobs that I would do, you know the ‘one thing’ kinda jobs that Beth from BabyMac blogs about. Oh, how I was going to tick off some of my ‘one thing’ jobs before the birth of my fourth.
I was going to CLEAN! Clean the baseboards in the kitchen, dust all the skirting boards, wipe all those little hand prints off the mirrored built-ins, clean the oven, dust all of the photo frames and the fake plant (cause I can’t seem to keep anything living alive – well, except for children), wipe out all of the cupboards in the kitchen, clean the windows, more general dusting (I never seem to get around to it), oh and wash the washing machine.
Then that all went out the window when our fourth son arrived over two weeks early (and I was technically still at work). Heck, I hadn’t even got around to washing all the newborn clothes yet.
And here is the thing, you can never get on top of all the things when you have a newborn – because NEWBORN!
So I was so excited when Fantastic Services reached out to me and asked me if I would like to have some general cleaning completed – whilst I literally took the little boys to the park and out for babycinos.
I’d been in such a rush that morning. Breakfast and breast feeding, followed by getting everyone dressed, packing lunchboxes and back packs, then primary school drop off, then preschool drop off. I raced back to find the lovely gentleman from Fantastic Services on my front porch – prompt and ready to start at 9:30am.
Oh what a sight for sore, sleep deprived eyes!
I quickly walked the gentlemen through the house and let them know the areas that I thought needed a little ‘extra love’. And then we were off, free for the morning.
I came back two and a half hours later to a pristine home, all the little jobs and the general cleaning had been completed.
