Life: what’s in my kitchen

February 1, 2021 by Shari

I missed sharing my regular ‘what’s in my kitchen’ post and so I thought that I would pick them up again! Drop by on the first Tuesday of every month to find out what’s been a hit in our kitchen. I hope that you’ll find a little inspiration (oh and I’ll share a book or two).

And, as always, if you are interested in seeing what other lovely bloggers have in their kitchen this month, then head over to Sherry Mackay, from Sherry’s Pickings .

In my February kitchen…

There has been Marion’s Pad Thai kits. I have shared her San Chow Bow kits before – and I know that a few of you are also fans. I think that our family needs two kits (or at least extra protein and veggies to serve everyone), so I try and pick them up when I see them on special. A great staple in your cupboard to pull out and prepare a quick mid-week meal that everyone will enjoy.

In my February kitchen…

There has been a lot of watermelon. The boys are massive fans of ice cold watermelon after a morning at the beach. It also appears heavily on the crunch and sip menu. I cut it up into cubes and then add in a little pick, so that don’t end up with juice all over their hands. Here it is in a delicious watermelon and halloumi salad.

In my February kitchen…

Although technically not always in my kitchen (but I do sometimes read in my kitchen), I highly recommend ‘The Beautiful Words’ by Vanessa McCausland. This book was such an easy read and had me wanting to book a trip to Tasmania for the food and the scenery asap. But it also touched on issues that are so front of mind right now; women’s bodies, women’s rights, friendships, class divides.

In my February kitchen…

There were oh so many lunchboxes. With three boys off to primary school, that’s fifteen lunchboxes a week. And then add an additional three lunchboxes a week for the littlest lad as he embarks on his first year of preschool. Here was a little valentine’s day lunchbox that I whipped up with all the red foods that I could find on hand (I mean without going to too much effort).

In my February kitchen…

You need to order this in your next order from Delish Deliveries. It seriously makes getting dinner on the table in a matter of minutes, so easy. We have been creating tasty broths using this stock concentrate from The Broth Sisters – then adding in Asian veggies and dumplings at the last minute for a seriously satisfying main meal.

So tell me, what is in your kitchen this month? Are you busy packing lunchboxes? Do you order your groceries online? Did you do anything special for Valentine’s Day? Have you ever tried anything from the Broth Sisters?

Shari from GoodFoodWeek

GoodFoodWeek started in 2008 as a way of sharing recipes with uni friends and family who were spread near and far. It has evolved over the years to contain my ramblings as I’ve searched for a house, planned the perfect veggie patch, stumbled through farmer’s markets with my eye half open (because you need to be there at 6am to get the fresh eggs), had babies, gathered family and friends around a shared table, laughed out loud and enjoyed life to the fullest!
