Do you eat meat every day? I’ve been trying to reduce the amount of meat that our family eats – for health reasons, environmental reasons and for financial reasons – for a while now. I love following meatfreemonday posts on Instagram for ideas. Did you know that from 1-8 August 2016, the annual Meat Free Week challenge invites regular meat-eaters to go without meat or seafood for seven days.
Do you think that you could do it?
It means giving up your bacon and eggs for breakfast, a burger or ham sandwich for lunch and that chicken or seafood dish for dinner. But it is totally worth it!
Going meat free for a week will encourage you to really think about what is going onto your plate, at every meal. Every little action makes a difference and the ones you choose could help to make this a kinder, healthier and happier world. Here are some recipes that you might like to try, whilst you’re cutting out meat with meat slicer .
BREAKFAST
Almond milk and vanilla bean porridge
Pear and raspberry paleo bread
LUNCH
Ricotta gnocchi with tomatoes and basil
DINNER
Mexican soup with cheesy tortillas
Have you ever whipped up a recipe from my blog? I would love for you to let me know…So I don’t feel as if I am just writing all this stuff down for nothing… If you choose to whip up one of my recipes , then I would love for you to share it on social media, and don’t forget to use the hashtag #goodfoodweek.

That gnocchi looks amazing! I’m not a huge meat eater but my husband + two little people do like quite a bit. Still, always after a few extra veggie meals to throw into our meal plan 🙂

Thanks Melinda – it is a super simple gnocchi recipe to whip up {way easier then traditional gnocchi}. My husband and two little people also LOVE meat. My eldest currently asks as soon as his dinner is put done ‘where is the chicken and bacon?’ {even if it isn’t chicken or bacon}. These recipes – especially the vegetarian enchiladas – go down a treat with them.

Yum, so many meatless meals! I don’t like cooking meat but I love eating it so we eat mostly meatless meals at home. Curries, dhal and veggie pies are some of our go to favourites. I would totally be up for this challenge but we have meat loving overseas visitors at our place this week and I think they’re hoping to eat meat!

When I am pregnant I really struggle to cook meat – I just don’t like the smell of it raw. But then when we are out at a restaurant a steak jumps off the menu at me!
